I’ve levelled each of my characters towards level 8 in the Diablo 3 Beta Patch 10. To get there you usually finish up the ‘Shattered Crown’ chapter which is the one just before the Skeleton King. So I’d not actually defeated the Skeleton King since last patch. I began to miss the old chap. The amount of time I’d spent killing him in the previous 4 or 5 beta patches meant I felt a bond with him. The Skeleton King and I are bros. So I thought – “Hey, I haven’t shown the guys and gals following the blog an SK kill on video yet! Plus I miss the bony gentleman” – and an idea was born!
Check out my Diablo 3 Witchdoctor slaying the Skeleton King in a round about way (trying for an achievement – Instant Karma)! There’s one thing that particularly interests me. In previous beta patches SK kills always (first time) rewarded players with 1 rare (yellow) item. In my first run here TWO rare rings dropped. Now perhaps the SK always has a chance of dropping a yellow and you always get 1 yellow on your first run through.
This might mean I just got lucky and this has always been possible. It’s also possible that they’re still messing with loot tables. It might prove to be quite profitable to find the one boss in game that has the tastiest possible drops and complete the chapter he’s in repeatedly. A viable tactic. Boring but profitable! It’s too early to decide if this is something to pursue or not. I’ll let you watch the video now!
